CDM Principal Designer

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007, requires clients to appoint a CDM coordinator for certain types of construction work.

​

The purpose of the role is to ensure that the Client, Designers and Principle Contractor, all have due regard to the safety, health and welfare of those working on the construction project, maintaining the building and ultimately demolishing the structure. A Health and Safety File is provided to the client containing all relevant information.

Why might you need us?

​

The client has an obligation under the Regulations to make an appointment of a suitably qualified CDM coordinator which is the first step in ensuring that you remain statutorily compliant, giving your project the best chance of success.

Our principal designer services include:

​

  • CDM 2015 requires a client to identify and obtain pre-construction information. We offer support to do this and will also help collate the information for issue to the designers and the principal contractor for the construction phase.

  • Assisting in the development of the initial brief

  • Planning, managing and monitoring the co-ordination of the pre-construction phase

  • Helping clients identify, obtain and collect pre-construction information

  • Providing pre-construction information to designers, principal contractor and contractors

  • Co-ordinating significant health and safety issues with the design team through to resolution

  • Ensuring that designers co-operate with each other and comply with CDM 2015

  • Liaising with the principal contractor for the duration of our appointment

  • Agreeing a format and compiling the statutory health and safety file for formal handover at project completion

  • Communicating our progress and raising awareness of potential health and safety issues
